RIDEHALGH: ‘JUST ANOTHER GAME’

10 August 2021

Liam Ridehalgh believes the Bantams have adopted the same, grounded mentality they do for every encounter - ahead of tomorrow evening’s trip to Nottingham Forest.

The Bantams begin their 2021/22 Carabao Cup campaign with a 7.45pm trip to The City Ground to face Sky Bet Championship opposition.

And Ridehalgh is confident he and his team-mates will take the same approach they always do when looking to book their place in round two.

He said: “It is a fantastic stadium to play in and I believe they will be right up there this season, at the top end of the Championship.

“It is a great club and it should be a good game for us to take part in. We are looking forward to it.

“We are going to go there and give it as good of a go as we can. For us, it is just another game and we do not look at it any differently to how we would a league game.

“We go in with the exact same mindset. It will be a tough test and will tell us a lot about where we are as a team and a squad. We want to go there and express ourselves as much as possible.”

A summer recruit from Tranmere Rovers, the left-back is enjoying life in BD8, having been born and raised in West Yorkshire.

He insists his team-mates have helped him quickly settle, and is aiming for a successful season with the Bantams.

Ridehalgh added: “I have really enjoyed it, and it has been a bit different for me.

“Eight years is a long time to spend at one club, as I did at Tranmere, but the lads have welcomed me really well, and I am settling in more and more.

“The manager is very intense. He knows what he wants and will not come away from those principles, but he has had success before, and had a tried and proven method which we are all buying into more and more.

“The aim is to get Bradford City into League One, and anything less is not really acceptable this season. That is what we need to achieve, as the club should be in League One at the very least.”
