Summer signing Oscar Threlkeld is in good spirits heading into City’s Sky Bet League Two opening-day encounter against Exeter City.

The Bantams are set to make the long trip to St James Park to play their first competitive fixture in 91 days.

Threlkeld is feeling confident ahead of the clash and has taken encouragement from City’s pre-season outings.

He said: “We are all feeling positive going into the game. Pre-season was very encouraging and we picked up some positive results.

“The manager has had a chance to learn which formation he wants to play going into the new season.

“It is going to be a tough game but, hopefully, we can pick up the win and build some more confidence going forward.”

Threlkeld was also full of praise towards his new team-mates for how they have helped him settle in at the club.

The 26-year-old joined the Bantams on July 1 and is hoping to make his competitive debut for City against the Grecians.

He added: “I am very thankful for how everyone has helped me settle in. All of the coaching staff and players have been fantastic.

“This is a great club - and I am really looking forward to seeing what this season brings.

“I got plenty of minutes under my belt in pre-season, and certainly feel ready to play competitive football again.”
