ADAMS LOOKING FORWARD TO HOME RETURN

6 December 2021

Derek Adams is looking forward to returning to the Utilita Energy Stadium – ahead of Wednesday’s Sky Bet League Two match against Colchester United.

His side have played away from home for their last three games and only once in the last seven encounters.

City have also only lost once at the Utilita Energy Stadium in the league this season, and Adams is looking forward to seeing supporters pack back into Valley Parade again.

He said: “The atmosphere at home has been fantastic, and we have only been beaten once this season in the league there.

“We feel we should have won more home games, we just have not been clinical enough and we need to become better at that.

“When teams come to Valley Parade, the first thing they try to do is silence the crowd.

“It was a difficult period we were in, with a lot of travelling and playing in the cup mixed with playing teams at the top of the league, so we are pleased to be back at home for the next two games.”

The Bantams will have had over a week to prepare for the encounter, as well as a free weekend where the players were handed three days off.

Adams believes the time was beneficial for both staff and players, and hopes to see a freshness in their approach.

He added: “We had a couple of days off for a break, for the first time since the start of the season.

“We have played a lot of games away from home recently, so it was a good opportunity to give the players some time off.

“We have had a lot of travelling to do, so mentally and physically it was great for players and staff to have a few days away.

“Travelling down to Exeter twice was not handy, but now we have a home game to look forward to.”
