Goal-scorer Anthony O’Connor lauded a “well-deserved” victory for the Bantams - following last night’s 2-1 triumph over Morecambe.

The Irishmen netted City’s opener on his 100th league start for the club, as Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars’ side returned to winning ways in Sky Bet League Two.

And, after recent postponements, the 28-year-old stressed the importance of the Bantams finally bouncing back from defeat against Exeter City on February 6.

He said: “It was a great victory for us.

“After losing for the first time in eight games at Exeter, we wanted to bounce back immediately, but unfortunately have been unable to do that.

“It has been a frustrating couple of weeks, so to earn the win was massive for us and helps restore our confidence.

“We played really well in all areas of the pitch and, overall, I thought we deserved the three points.”

O’Connor was also thrilled to mark his 100th league start for the club with a goal, drawing his side level in the 28th minute.

Now in his third season at the Utilita Energy Stadium, having arrived in July 2018, the defender was delighted to have reached triple figures in this particular area.

He added: “Scoring on my 100th league start for the club was a great feeling.

“I am very proud to have reached this milestone and to have topped it off with a goal was very pleasing for me, on a personal level.

“Hopefully, I can go on to make many more appearances for the club, but the most important thing for us was three points, so I was delighted to have contributed.”
