SELLARS LOOKING FOR SCUNTHORPE RESPONSE

8 February 2021

Conor Sellars has called for the Bantams to respond to Saturday’s disappointment - when travelling to Scunthorpe United tomorrow.

His side visit the Sands Venue Stadium on the back of their first defeat under Mark Trueman and Sellars' temporary reign, at Exeter City on Saturday.

City’s joint-interim boss is looking for the players to grasp the opportunity to show a reaction with both hands, to ensure they return to winning ways.

He said: “We have an opportunity to right the wrongs straight away - which is something we have stressed to the players.

“We need to implement what we have identified after Saturday, and do everything we can to hopefully come away with the three points.

“We are looking to find ways in which we can hurt Scunthorpe though playing in our system. We have confidence in our ability to score goals, so it is up to us to try and test their defence.

“It is important we show a reaction to the weekend’s performance and result - which we are looking forward to hopefully doing.”

After a first defeat in nine matches, Sellars believes City must return to demonstrating the values they did during their unbeaten run.

He is looking for the Bantams to once again display strong signs in order to pick up where they left off before travelling to St James Park.

Sellars added: “It was a disappointing result on Saturday, especially having led twice. We failed to handle the key moments well enough, and that stopped us from getting a result.

“A defeat provides a big opportunity for us to learn from mistakes we may have made, and things we may have strayed away from.

“We have been back to what gave us success in previous games, and need to reinforce previous messages we maybe missed on Saturday.

“We will once again reiterate what kind of a team we are, and where we had enjoyed our success until this point, ahead of the game on Tuesday.”
