‘A STORY RETOLD’: THE ALL-NEW 2021/22 HOME KIT

12 July 2021

Bradford City AFC is delighted to announce the launch of the club’s all-new 2021/22 home kit!

Produced by official kit and retail supplier, Avec Sport - and available NOW via the club’s official retail website - the new kit showcases a historic design and colour scheme ahead of the coming campaign.

The strip takes inspiration from City’s automatic promotion to the third tier in the 1981/82 season, and marks the 40th anniversary of that memorable campaign.

A white shirt features claret and amber stripes across the ‘V-neck’ collar and shoulders, with claret and amber Avec Sport taping running down ribbed, cuffed sleeves.

Launched alongside a nostalgic animated video - produced by Ben Wild Studios - ‘A Story Retold’ celebrates memories still cherished today.

Portrayed through the eyes of former City stars Peter Jackson, Barry Gallagher, Joe Cooke and Mark Ellis, the production replicates footage and memories from 40 years ago, and also features current first-team Bantams Abo Eisa, Andy Cook, Oscar Threlkeld and Paudie O’Connor.

The shirt has been crafted from lightweight, sweat-wicking interlock polyester, designed to keep you dry and comfortable, and includes claret ‘Vapeurvent’ side mesh panels, allowing airflow to the body.

Two of the club’s main partners, JCT600 and Mitton Group, take centre stage on the front and rear of the jersey, with both logos fully sublimated into the fabric, while fellow main partner, Utilita Energy, again appears in white on the rear of the shorts.

The club crest - complete with a claret star marking the 1911 FA Cup triumph - is embroidered, appearing on the front of the shirt alongside the Avec Sport logo.

The rear of the jersey is complemented by a traditional black ribbon, paying tribute to the lives tragically lost in the Valley Parade Fire Disaster on 11th May 1985.

The strip is completed by claret shorts with amber trim and white socks featuring claret and amber stripes, Avec Sport branding and ‘BCAFC’ to the rear - in a remake of the 1981/82 kit.

City’s chief executive officer, Ryan Sparks, said: “We are delighted to reveal our new look for the 2021/22 campaign, as we pay homage to our former stars and the treasured memories of the 1981/82 season - the last time automatic promotion was achieved from the fourth tier by Bradford City AFC.

“We are extremely proud of our heritage and, while this represents a short-term step away from our modern-day, 'traditional' and more commonly-recognised stripes, we are proud to honour our heroes of 40 years ago.

“We are working hard in a bid to create new memories and success stories, though we believe this piece of history has the power to inspire.

“The new strip reaffirms our ambitions for the coming campaign, as we welcome unrivalled support back to Valley Parade for the first time in 18 months. I am sure the players will wear it with immense pride, and we look forward to seeing claret and amber on the field at all times - where possible - next season.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our main partners, JCT600, Mitton Group and Utilita Energy for their fantastic support, and Avec Sport for buying into our vision for this year's home kit, as we now look forward to retelling a remarkable story.”
