ADAMS PRAISES BANTAMS RESILIENCE

Derek Adams lauded the resilience of his Bantams - after they came from behind to maintain their 100% pre-season record with a 2-1 victory at Guiseley.

The Bantams trailed to a Kaine Felix strike on 13 minutes, though went into half-time ahead thanks to Lee Angol's double.

Adams praised his side's ability to successfully manage conditions and situations, while learning to adapt to playing in different formations.

The City chief said: “It was a difficult night because of the conditions and the humidity. For us to pass the ball as quickly as we wanted to was going to be difficult, but we dealt well with the circumstances.

“Eventually, once we had got used to everything, and the opposition we were up against, we managed to come out on top.

“We started off in a 3-5-2 before changing to a few different systems with four defenders.

“We wanted to give the players the opportunity to play in different styles, and not give away to our opponents how we will be playing during the season.”

With fixtures coming thick and fast ahead of the start of the season, Adams was pleased to be able to hand eight of his players 90 minutes at Nethermoor Park.

He feels game time will stand his side in good stead more - with another two fixtures before the end of the week - ahead of the 2021/22 season's Saturday August 7 start date.

Adams added: "With another game against Brighouse Town, we had to balance things properly. It was good to get a lot of the players 90 minutes.

"I would have probably liked to have got more players on the pitch, and taken more off, but under the circumstances we did what we could.

"It is difficult in pre-season because you play against a variety of opponents. Everyone just wants to get the season going, but we still have another four challenging games coming up.

"We have to find out about different players and give everyone an opportunity, and this will help us get down to what will be our starting 11 for the new season."

City travel to Brighouse Town in the second of two fixtures in two days this evening (7.30pm). Supporters will be able to PAY ON THE GATE for the clash.
