ANGOL HAPPY TO OVERCOME ‘CHALLENGING’ GUISELEY TEST

Two-goal hero Lee Angol was delighted City were able to maintain their 100% pre-season record with a “challenging” 2-1 triumph over fellow Yorkshire side Guiseley.

The Bantams fell behind early on in the contest, but the summer signing netted a first-half double which was enough for Derek Adams’ side to earn another victory.

Angol admitted this was a valuable test for City and praised his team-mates’ character throughout the game.

He said: “It was a very challenging test which we all did well to overcome.

“Guiseley were very much up for the fight and took the game to us early on.

“We were yet to face a team in pre-season who played like they did, so we had to find ways to deal with that.

“These are the sorts of tests you need in pre-season, and I am just pleased we managed to show good character and get the win in the end.”

Angol also confessed his delight at netting his first two goals for the Bantams.

The 26-year-old recently signed from fellow Sky Bet League Two side Leyton Orient and is hoping there is more to come from him.

He added: “Obviously, as a forward, the main objective is to score goals, so I am delighted I managed to get a couple.

“It is always a nice feeling to score and it is even better when it helps the team win.

“The best thing about finding the back of the net in pre-season is it gives you confidence going into the new season.

“Hopefully, I can continue to score goals and make an impression with the club.”

The Bantams are back in action - at Brighouse Town - this evening, with admission available on the turnstiles at the Yorkshire Payments Stadium.
