TRUEMAN EXPECTING ‘DIFFERENT’ TEST FROM DONCASTER

Assistant manager Mark Trueman is expecting the City players to come up against a “different” challenge - when they take on Sky Bet League One side Doncaster Rovers in this afternoon's pre-season friendly.

The Bantams began their preparations for the new Sky Bet League Two season with a 5-0 victory away to Bradford (Park Avenue) - and are now set to play their first at the Utilita Energy Stadium against Richie Wellens’ side.

Trueman is anticipating an all-round different test and is interested to see how City’s players compete against the South Yorkshire outfit.

He said: “This is going to be a much different test to the game against Bradford (Park Avenue).

“We are expecting to not have as much of the ball as we did in the last game, and it will be interesting to see how we deal with this.

“This sort of a challenge will be great for Derek (Adams) to learn more about how the players are capable of adapting to coming up against different styles of play.

“We are really looking forward to the challenge but, of course, the main aim at this stage is to make sure the bond between the players continues to grow and they all get up to full fitness ahead of the new season.”

Trueman was also eager to confess his excitement towards the City supporters making their long-awaited return.

This is set to be the first time the City faithful will be present at the Utilita Energy Stadium since March 2020 - with a capacity of 2,000 inside Valley Parade.

He added: “We are all very excited to see the supporters back for the first time in a long time.

“We really missed them last season, especially in the home games.

“The supporters returning will be hugely beneficial for the players and will give them extra motivation.

“It is going to be like having a 12th man and this will certainly help us throughout the duration of the season.”
