BANTAMS TO RAISE CUPPA TO NHS HEROES

22 June 2021

Bradford City AFC will celebrate the NHS’ birthday next month - joining Bradford Hospitals’ Charity on Monday July 5 for the Big Tea event - helping raise funds for NHS heroes.

The NHS Big Tea - billed as the nation’s biggest tea break - will be held by NHS charities across the UK on the NHS’ birthday. People and organisations across the country will be hosting small tea parties to raise money, or simply taking a break and making a donation.

All money raised by Bradford Hospitals’ Charity - the official charity partner of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - will go to its NHS Hospital Heroes Appeal, which is used to support staff.

Hayley Collis, head of fundraising for Bradford Hospitals’ Charity, said: “Bradford City AFC has been hugely supportive of the NHS in Bradford, both before and during the pandemic.

“Not only have staff and players got behind our appeals, they have also helped auction sponsorship assets from last season’s Bradford Hospitals’ Charity-dedicated fixture against Cambridge United to raise money for our NHS charity.

“Proceeds from Bradford City face coverings sold at the height of the pandemic also went to our NHS Hospital Heroes appeal.

“We are hugely grateful that everyone at the club appreciates the heroic efforts our staff have gone to during the past year and a half - in the war against COVID-19. We are also proud to be associated with a club so supportive of its community.”

A Bradford City AFC spokesperson said: “We are proud to be celebrating the birthday of the NHS next month - with the Big Tea event - and are looking forward to raising a ‘cuppa’ for those who continue to sacrifice so much.

“Over the past 18 months, given the situation we still find ourselves in, the NHS has gone beyond the call of duty - despite the difficult circumstances the organisation has faced.

“To be showing our support for and giving back to the heroes across the country - while recognising those who do so much across the Bradford district - makes us immensely proud.

“Everyone here at Bradford City AFC is hugely grateful for the tireless efforts made by every single NHS staff member, and hopes our support of the NHS Big Tea event reflects this.

“It is incredibly important for us as a club to be supporting this, and we would like to encourage everyone to join us on July 5 to say a big ‘happy birthday’ to our fantastic NHS!”
