CLUB AWARDED EQUALITY CODE OF PRACTICE

8 March 2021

Bradford City AFC has been awarded the EFL Equality Code of Practice.

Obtained following an annual audit, the Code of Practice signifies that the club has demonstrated a clear commitment to - and awareness and implementation of - equality values throughout.

Assessors determined City had provided examples of constructive self-assessment and leadership to complete evidence during the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to providing a solid foundation for continued equality, diversity and inclusion work.

Each section of the 2019/20 audit was met, with no areas requiring further action to have gained the Code of Practice.

The club recently established an equality, diversity and inclusion group which consists of staff, Community Foundation and external representatives.

For more information on this - and to state interest in becoming a supporter representative - please e-mail paulawatson@bradfordcityfc.co.uk.

Following the appointment of Louise Lawrence as disability liaison officer, the club would like to congratulate Jaimie Dorward on her new role as inclusion officer, and take this opportunity to thank her for her efforts as disability liaison officer.

Bradford City, in partnership with its academy and Community Foundation, works across the city to be inclusive and anti-discriminatory - while working closely with the EFL, FA, Kick It Out and Level Playing Field.

We want to ensure the club is a child-and-family-friendly place - free from discrimination and unfair behaviour - and will continue to take a proactive approach in order to achieve these objectives.

The club is committed to promoting equality by treating people fairly and with respect, recognising inequalities exist and taking steps to address them and by providing access and opportunities for all members of the community.

Previous successes which reinforce this ethos, and which the club aims to build on, include the Community Disability Volunteer programme, Sunflower Hidden Disability scheme, ‘City For All’ campaign and LGTBQ+ Supporters’ Group.

Supporters are able to contact the club’s confidential matchday helpline - for help with all equality-related concerns - by phoning 07949 814243.
