The Bantams will look to return to winning ways in Sky Bet League Two - when travelling to the Cardiff City Stadium to face Newport County.

Tuesday evening’s hosts sit 6th in the table, having won 14, drawn nine and lost nine matches so far this season. Victory for City would see them climb to within one point of the Exiles.

We have created this Opposition Guide to take you through everything you need to know ahead of Michael Flynn’s side.

ONES TO WATCH

Kevin Ellison

42-year-old winger Ellison joined the Exiles from Morecambe after nine seasons with the Lancashire club.

The former Bantam has made 714 career appearances, scoring 139 times and assisting 54 goals - having turned professional in 2000.

Throughout his career, he has enjoyed spells with the likes of Stockport County, Hull City, Tranmere Rovers, Chester City and Rotherham United.

Ryan Taylor

The 32-year-old has racked up over 400 senior appearances in his 15-year career, finding the net 64 times.

He started off with his hometown club Rotherham United and featured over 100 times for the Millers, before joining Bristol City on a permanent basis in 2011.

Spells at Portsmouth and Oxford United followed for the Yorkshireman, before he joined Plymouth Argyle in 2017.

Padraig Amond

Amond has been with Newport County since 2017 and has proved to be a prolific striker for the club - scoring 59 and assisting 18 in 192 appearances for the club.

The Irishman came through the academy at Shamrock Rovers and enjoyed three years in the first team before moving to Sligo Rovers in 2010.

Across his playing career, Amond has also represented Paços de Ferreira, Accrington Stanley, Morecambe, Grimsby and Hartlepool United. He has also been capped at youth level by the Republic of Ireland.

THE CAPTAIN

Midfielder Joss Labadie joined Newport County in 2016 from Dagenham and Redbridge and was handed the captain’s armband ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

The West Bromwich Albion academy graduate has netted 46 goals across 364 career appearances for the likes of Shrewsbury Town, Tranmere Rovers and Torquay United.

THE MANAGER

Michael Flynn was appointed caretaker manager of Newport County following the departure of Graham Westley in 2017, with Newport 11 points adrift at the bottom of Sky Bet League Two.

Flynn led the team to survival, avoiding relegation with a win in the final match of the season - and was appointed as permanent first team manager on a two-year contract.

The former City midfielder will mark his fourth year in charge of the South Wales outfit when City visit Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday evening.

LAST TIME OUT

Joss Labadie and Padraig Amond were on the scoresheet as the Exiles saw off Colchester United to move back into the play-off places.
