SELLARS WANTS CITY TO KEEP PROGRESSING

23 March 2021

Conor Sellars says the Bantams are determined to ensure they keep progressing as a side - ahead of this evening’s trip to Scunthorpe United.

The Bantams ended a run of two-straight defeats at home to Oldham Athletic on Tuesday evening, and will be looking to go one better at the Sands Venue Stadium.

Despite being disappointed with recent results, Sellars is confident City have what it takes to respond, and believes in the process his side is currently going through.

“It is about making sure we show progression, and continue to build on what we have identified as weaknesses,” said Sellars.

“Our performance at Carlisle was probably the poorest one we have seen, so we knew we needed to be better than that, which we felt we were.

“That is the fourth time we have played Oldham this season, and the best result we have got, so it is about developing and growing as a team, and building on different areas you have identified.

“There are always going to be slight bumps along the way, and times where it is not all going perfect, but it is about how we respond to different situations.

“We are looking forward to getting back out there again at Scunthorpe, and hopefully getting back to winning ways.”

With this the third time the Bantams have been scheduled to travel to North Lincolnshire this season, Sellars feels his side has been able to prepare in the right way for the challenge ahead.

Despite expecting a different challenge to the one they prepared for last time, the Bantams’ joint manager feels his side will be ready for what Neil Cox’s men throw their way.

He added: “In terms of their squad, they will be very similar, but everyone is playing a lot of games at this moment in time - and so that perhaps changes the tactics each team adopts, going into each game.

“It is not a case of taking Scunthorpe as we know they might play, and basing things on an assumption from how we planned to set up for them last time.

“It will be a different challenge, and one we have to be prepared for.”
