The Bantams ended the 2020/21 season in defeat - losing 2-0 at promotion-chasing Morecambe.
Goals in each half from Liam McAlinden and Cole Stockton condemned City to defeat at the Mazuma Stadium.
Morecambe had the first real chance of the game when Paudie O’Connor misplaced his pass, leaving Cole Stockton to feed through Brad Lyons to force a diving save from Sam Hornby.
The Shrimps kept the ball alive, though, and Liam McAlinden saw his fizzing effort bounce back off the post from the edge of the area.
Derek Adams’ side took the lead not long after when Toumani Diagouraga picked up the ball and retained possession, before playing through McAlinden - who kept his cool to slot it beneath Sam Hornby and into the back of the net.
City looked to get back on level terms in the 40th minute when Connor Wood floated a ball over to Andy Cook at the back post who rose highest to beat his man and put his header over the crossbar.
The hosts started the second half strongly and almost added a second when the ball fell to Diagouraga who took aim from 20-yards out, however his strike whistled just past the post.
Morecambe did double their lead in the 57th minute when Carlos Mendes Gomes was picked out after making a run in behind the City backline.
The 22-year-old cut the ball back to Stockton who smashed his effort past Hornby to double the home side's advantage.
The Bantams went close to pulling one back deep into second-half stoppage time when Billy Clarke headed Donaldson’s cross on target, but Letheren saved once again and ensured that the three points remained in Lancashire.
