BIG MATCH PREVIEW: MORECAMBE v CITY

7 May 2021

City will be in action for the final time this season - when travelling to promotion hopefuls Morecambe in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday afternoon (3.00pm).

Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars’ side remain in 14th in the table, as the Shrimps look to seal automatic promotion to Sky Bet League One should they better Bolton Wanderers’ result at Crawley Town.

The Bantams are unbeaten in the last eight league meetings against Morecambe - a run dating back to October 2010 - when Paul Mullin bagged the only goal in a 1-0 defeat for City at Valley Parade.

We have compiled together all of the information and insight ahead of the final match of the season in this Big Match Preview.

TEAM NEWS

City: Conor Sellars confirmed Ollie Crankshaw will play a part at the Mazuma Stadium, having been withdrawn against Port Vale with respiratory issues.

Billy Clarke is pushing for a place to starting 11, after returning to the squad last Saturday from a calf injury.

Lee Novak started his first match in 2021 last time out against Scunthorpe United and is looking likely to feature once again.

Morecambe: Veteran midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has featured in the last 23 matches for the Shrimps and should play a part in Saturday’s meeting.

Former Bantam Nathaniel Knight-Percival has started the last six matches and has helped to secure four wins in that time. The 34-year-old defender is set to start against his former side.

Grant Pringle came off the bench last time out at Walsall and will be looking to start against the Bantams on Saturday afternoon, along with another ex-City defender, Kelvin Mellor.

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID

Conor Sellars: "We know it will be a tough ask - as they have been strong all season and are at the top end of the division for a reason.

"Derek Adams has done a brilliant job there this season, but we have to prepare to hopefully be better than them on the day."

Derek Adams: "It is the same as any other game. The aim is to gain three points from the game with a victory.

"Whatever happens, to go into the last game of the season in the position we are in is a fantastic achievement."
