NOVAK: ‘WE DID NOT DO ENOUGH’

Lee Novak insists the Bantams did not do enough to take all three points - following this afternoon’s 0-0 stalemate against Scunthorpe United.

City had the majority of the possession against Neil Cox’s men, but proved unable to breach the Iron backline - in their final home game of the 2020/21 season.

Despite admitting a draw was a fair result, Novak - who made his first start for the Bantams this calendar year - could not hide his frustration.

He said: “We set out to get the three points in every game we play in but, ultimately, we have not done enough to win the game today.

“A draw was probably a fair result, and that was all they needed to confirm their survival in the league. They have set up to frustrate us and have done their job.

“I have felt good for the last few weeks, now. To start my first match this year was obviously huge for me, on a personal level.

“When I found out about my injury, it was disappointing, as I felt as though I was on a decent run of form and we were playing well.

“I have felt good over the last three matches that I have played in, now.”

Although confessing his disappointment with the result, Novak is still determined to end the 2020/21 campaign on a high - when travelling to Morecambe next Saturday.

He feels January arrivals have helped the Bantams continue growing, and is looking forward to travelling to the Mazuma Stadium and looking for a positive result.

The frontman added: “The new players have been brilliant, and have bedded into the squad well.

“We have to stay motivated throughout the course of the season, as we are professionals, and it is our job. We have to go out there and give our best, no matter what we are playing for.

“Morecambe are flying, and we are looking to go there and win - to spoil their day and chances of getting into the automatic promotion places.”
