BANTAMS SHARE POINTS IN SCUNTHORPE

27 November 2021

The Bantams battled back to earn a point at the Sands Venue Stadium – with a 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe United.

The hosts led at half-time thanks to a Aaron Jarvis header, but Yann Songo’s second-half header - his first goal for the Bantams - meant the points were shared.

The first chance of the game fell City’s way. Lee Angol ran at the Scunthorpe defence, pulling the trigger inside the area, but George Taft did just enough to take the sting out of his effort.

Just minutes later, Scunthorpe created their first opening as Emmanuel Onariase had space to shoot but was unable to keep his effort down.

Just before half-time, Jarvis put the Iron in front as he headed home from close range.

City, however, started the second half strongly with the wind behind them, and finally got the equaliser in the 67th minute.

Callum Cooke's corner was met by the head of Songo'o who dragged Derek Adams' side back on level terms.

Alex Gilliead just moments later came close to putting the Bantams in front for the first time of the afternoon, but his effort from the edge of the area struck the post.

With 10 minutes to go, the home side almost got the winner as an effort ricocheted in the area and rattled the crossbar.

Both sides continued to push late on, but neither were unable to find the winner as the spoils were shared.
