Derek Adams praised the willingness of his side's performance, following this afternoon’s victory over Rochdale.

The Bantams won 2-0 at the Utilita Energy Stadium with a goal in each half from Alex Gillead and Andy Cook securing the victory for City in Sky Bet League Two and taking them up to 8th.

Adams was satisfied with how his side played and was pleased to see them return to winning ways.

He said: “We started really well, took the game to Rochdale and created a number of really good opportunities in that first period.

“You need to have that hunger and desire to roll over teams. Today, we did that, and at times had to roll our sleeves up and deal with the threat Rochdale gave us.

“Today, we saw energy and willingness to run, play on the front foot and win a football match.

“It was a really good win for us. We kept a clean sheet, and Rochdale had one shot on target all afternoon which is pleasing.”

The Scotsman made two changes to the starting 11 from Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Crawley, and he was impressed by the players who came in.

Levi Sutton and Charles Vernam were restored to the line-up, and Adams was happy with their impact.

He added: “We actually played like a team. We know we have good players, but you have to go and show it.

“Yann Songo’o came in at centre-back because we needed him to actually come into midfield at times.

“Levi Sutton came into the team because we know of his running power and closing down.

“That was the main reason we had the outlets and defensive stability, but we also had Charles Vernam with that pace running in behind.”
