City defender Fiacre Kelleher believes the Bantams need to get “back to basics” - ahead of tomorrow's clash at home to Rochdale.

The Bantams will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten home run in Sky Bet League Two when hosting the Greater Manchester side.

Kelleher stressed the importance of the players going back to what they were doing earlier on in the season, if they are to return to winning ways.

He said: “We just need to re-focus and go back to basics.

“We need to start playing off instinct again. We are probably overthinking at the moment, because we are trying so hard.

“It is easy to become frustrated and start to second guess everything you are doing.

“For us, it is about being better than the man you are up against.

“Supporters are not happy if you do not win enough games and perform up to scratch, which is totally justified.

“When you see the fans are frustrated, you feel it as well, but you just have to try and work past that and get things going on the pitch.”

Kelleher also spoke about how he has settled in at the club since arriving at the Utilita Energy Stadium in the summer.

The Irishman joined City from Wrexham and has so far made five appearances in all competitions.

He added: “It has gone well. It always takes time to get used to players and playing alongside them.

“Now that I have managed to get a few games under my belt I feel more comfortable and, hopefully, you are yet to see the best of me.

“I have been trying to develop a partnership with Paudie. It takes time but I feel like it is developing well.

“You need to work in sync and I have been getting to know him a little better, which has also made things easier.”
