CANAVAN: ‘WE NEED TO BE POSITIVE’

22 October 2021

Niall Canavan insists the Bantams “need to be positive” despite recent results - ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Swindon Town.

The club captain will be hoping for his first minutes back on the field at The County Ground, following a hamstring injury, and is focused on what City can do moving forward.

Canavan - who has recently returned to the bench following his hamstring injury - admits the side were frustrated in midweek, but morale remains high.

He said: “The morale in the team is still very positive.

“On Tuesday, the lads were probably as low as I have seen them this season.

“In general, though, the mood has been very good. We are still a confident bunch in what we can do together.

“It is just about building that positivity. You are only ever one result away from starting your next run, and that is the way we have to look at it.”

The defender is hoping his side can bounce back, starting with City’s trip to Wiltshire.

The No.5 insists his side will go into the encounter fearless.

He added: “We want to bounce back from Tuesday. We are looking to make it the start of a run from this weekend.

“It is nice to play the teams at the top, as you can have a real test of yourself, but we are a confident group. We know what we are capable of.

“We do not go in fearing anyone or being worried about what anyone is going to do to us.

“We are fully concentrating on what we are going to do against the opposition.”
