YOUNG BANTAMS IN THREE-STRAIGHT LEAGUE WINS

5 October 2021

City’s under-19s secured their third-consecutive league triumph with a 3-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers.

Goals from Bobby Pointon (2) and Jack Wilson proved enough to earn the Bantams all three points at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The visitors opened the scoring when Louie Chorlton’s cross to the far post picked out Wilson who struck a left-footed volley into the back of the net.

City then doubled their advantage when Pointon’s cross-cum-shot eluded everyone and found the bottom corner of the goal to ensure the Bantams took a two-goal lead into the interval.

Martin Drury's side then added a third when Jay Tinsdale’s promising run ended with the ball finding Pointon who then curled a left-footed effort into the top corner.

Rovers pulled a goal back after intercepting a pass in midfield, mounting a counter attack and finding the back of the net.

The hosts were then awarded an opportunity to bring the game within a single goal towards the end, when the referee pointed to the spot.

However, goalkeeper Harry Ambler denied the penalty as City saw the game out to earn another victory.
