BIG MATCH PREVIEW: CITY v MANCHESTER UNITED UNDER-21s

20 September 2021

The Bantams will continue their Papa John’s Trophy campaign at the Utilita Energy Stadium against Manchester United’s under-21s side, at 7.00pm tomorrow evening.

This is the second season the Red Devils youth outfit has competed in the competition, and it will spell the first time the two teams have faced each other.

We have created a Big Match Preview to give you all the key details you need to know, heading into the encounter.

TEAM NEWS

City: Derek Adams is expected to rotate his squad, following Saturday's 1-1 draw with Barrow.

The Bantams will once again be without Abo Eisa, Lee Angol and captain Niall Canavan due to their respective injuries.

Tuesday's fixture presents a potential opportunity for Jorge Sikora, Kian Scales and Reece Staunton to make their first appearances in City colours this season.

The clash may also be the stage for full debuts for forwards Caolan Lavery and Theo Robinson.

United: The Red Devils will be without the suspended Hanibal Mejbri following his 91st-minute dismissal in their 3-2 defeat to Lincoln City.

Charlie McNeil will be looking to make successive starts in the competition, following his switch from local rivals Manchester City.

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAID

Derek Adams: “We will make a few changes. We did not do it last time because of the strong opposition we were up against in Lincoln City, but will make changes to the team on Tuesday ahead of the Crawley game.”
