Callum Cooke insists he and his team-mates are full of belief in themselves, ahead of tomorrow's trip to Crawley Town.

City sit ninth in Sky Bet League Two after eight matches, but just three points off third place.

Cooke – who will make his 150th career appearance if selected on Saturday – reiterates it is still only early in the season, and believes goals will come again for City.

The midfielder said: “We cannot afford to panic at this stage. We are eight games into the season, and have had the most shots in the division.

“The ball will start going in the back of the net for us. We have had the most shots, and just need to keep believing in what we are doing.

“We are still only three points off third. I know we have not won for a couple of games now, but to still say that shows we had a good start.

“We have to keep believing. We are clearly doing something right to create the chances, it is just about finishing them off.”

Cooke, who has started every league game this season for City, expects a ‘tough match’ tomorrow against the Red Devils.

He added: “Any game in this league is going to be a tough game. It is going to be a physical battle, so I am expecting a challenge from them.

“Every match is a hard one. We have to start sharper than them, and have to be quicker to second balls.

“In a physical game, you need to do that. You might not have the best of quality in the game, but if you get the basics of the game right then you should come through it.

“We are six games without a victory, and have to start getting these wins now.

“It is a good chance to go down on Saturday and put on a show for our traveling supporters, and get back to winning ways.”
