GIRLS REPRESENT BRADFORD CITY IN ACES NATIONALS TOURNAMENT

5 September 2021

Players from Bradford City AFC Girls' under-14s, under-15s and under-16s sides represented the club at the Aces Nationals Tournament last week.

An annual competition, the Aces sees the best sides from across the country pitted against each other every year.

The under-16s qualified for the finals after an unbeaten regular season which saw them sweep a league and cup double.

In the group stages, they lost 1-0 to Coventry, drew 0-0 with Oxford and recorded 2-1 victories over both Sheffied United and Norwich.

After a 3-0 quarter-final success over Flitwick Eagles, and a 1-0 semi-final win over Oxford, they were eventually defeated 3-0 in the final by defending champions North London.

Having been crowned champions of the West Riding Girls Football League, the under-15s lost 2-1 to Manchester in the group stages and drew 2-2 with Oxford, before a 1-0 win over South East London and a 2-0 triumph over Reading.

They beat Cardiff in the quarter-finals on penalties after a 1-1 draw, before falling short in the semi-finals, losing 2-0 to North London.

The under-14s qualified after an impressive campaign in the Craven, Aire & Wharfe Boys Junior League.

Their group stage saw them lose 1-0 to Leicester, draw 0-0 against Aspire and Huddersfield, and record 1-0 victories over Rotherham and Cambridge.

A 2-0 quarter-final win over Manchester followed, before they were again beaten 1-0 by Leicester in the semi-final.

The club would like to congratulate all involved on the day, and plans to recognise Bradford City AFC Girls' under-14s, under-15s and under-16s sides at City's next home fixture - against Barrow on Saturday September 18. Please CLICK HERE to purchase tickets.
