WALKER INSISTS 10-MAN CITY DESERVED MORE

Goal-scorer Jamie Walker believes a 10-man Bantams side merited all three points following yesterday's 1-1 draw at home to Tranmere Rovers.

The 28-year-old’s first-half header was cancelled out by Callum McManaman’s late leveller – as the spoils were shared at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

Walker was frustrated that 10-man City were unable to hold on to the three points on the afternoon, and believes their efforts warranted more.

He said: “I am disappointed for everyone. The manager, the players, and most importantly, the fans, because they supported us from the first minute until the last.

“We put so much effort into the game, held on for so long and to lose the goal at the end was disappointing.

“With the way the fans reacted at the end of the game, they appreciated the effort we put in.

“We kept going and kept in the game. We created a few good chances and had a great one at the end to win it.

“It was disappointing for everyone to not get the three points we deserved after playing for so long with 10 men.

“The way that we played comes from the gaffer. He wants us to get on the front foot and create chances.

“Even though we had 10 men, we still tried to do that, and it was bitterly disappointing to lose the late goal.”

The Scotsman was however happy to score his first goal at Valley Parade for the Bantams.

Walker opened the scoring in the contest and insists it is important he impresses manager Mark Hughes when given the opportunity to do so.

He added: “It was my first goal here in front of the home fans and I was delighted to get another goal.

“Playing off the front is my favourite position. Whenever I am called on by the gaffer, I just want to give him my best.

“It has been a while since we have repaid the supporters with three points and we could have done that in this game.

“They are appreciating what we are trying to do and hopefully we can get a few wins between now and the end of the season.”
