City stopper Harry Lewis insists there are positives to take from last night's "gutting" Carabao Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

The Bantams led through Andy Cook against their Sky Bet Championship visitors, but Rovers rallied to secure their place in round three with a 2-1 triumph.

Lewis believes City can take confidence from the defeat, and use the experience learnt from playing well against a higher level of opposition for the rest of the season.

He said: “We are never happy losing games. Personally, I am never happy conceding goals.

“I do not think we played too badly. Unfortunately, it showed a gulf in quality between us and the second tier.

“We played against slightly better opposition tonight than against Hull, but we lacked that clinicism.

“They had a couple of good chances, but we are quite disappointed that we did not take our chances to win the game.

“We are gutted to be out of the cup. We always look for positives, though, and we can take many from the game. Now, it is time to focus on the league.”

The Bantams are yet to concede in the league at the University of Bradford Stadium, where the 24-year-old kept clean sheets against Doncaster Rovers and Newport County.

Lewis was pleased to be tested by players from the second tier, and is also confident in how the squad is shaping up and gelling.

“At times, I have felt like a bit of a spectator in the league so far,” he added.

“On nights like this, I might be called upon to make saves. I am there to do my job.

“Credit to the lads in front of me. I have been relatively quiet in the league, which shows how good the back four are and how well they are gelling.

“We love keeping clean sheets. The lads love making blocks, and I love making saves. We have become a real unit, and we all love our jobs.

“We have got two clean sheets so far at home, and we have got to go again on Saturday.

“The aim is to make this place a fortress and, hopefully, if we keep tight against Crewe, that will be another three points for us.”
