Ahead of a return to his former club, Matty Platt believes the Bantams can combat Barrow’s tough atmosphere as City look to pick up their first three points of the season at the SO Legal Stadium.

The defender moved to the University of Bradford Stadium in the summer, ending a three-year-long stint at Holker Street.

Having featured in the opening-day draw against Doncaster Rovers last Saturday, Platt insists the Bantams have been doing all they can in training to ensure they leave Barrow with all three points.

He said: “It was frustrating at the weekend. We wanted to win the game but could not find the goal we needed.

“We controlled the game and, after the sending off, they made it hard for us and sat in. We could not find the quality to find the goal but we have been working on that through the week.

“Barrow is a tough place to go. The atmosphere is good and I am sure our fans will be loud as well, so we are looking forward to the game.

“The positive from last week is the clean sheet. As a defender, we relish those. But, looking on the creative side of things, hopefully we can improve.”

Platt, who enjoyed promotion with the Bluebirds in the 2019/20 season and played over 50 games in Cumbria, reflects on his time at Barrow with fondness, but is looking forward to laying down a marker at the weekend.

The 24-year-old added: “I had a great time up there and we enjoyed some successful times.

“We had a difficult couple of seasons, but in the end we managed to stay in the league. The last two seasons were touch and go, but they ended of staying and they will build on that.

“If you want to be successful in any league, you have got to get momentum going.

“For us, getting that first win as quick as possible is the best way of doing that, and we will be looking to do that on Saturday.”
