The former Hartlepool defender comes in for Romoney Crichlow who, alongside Scott Banks, is not in the squad.
Full-backs Liam Ridehalgh and Brad Halliday make way for Matty Foulds and Luke Hendrie, who make their first competitive appearances of the campaign.
After coming off the bench against Crewe Alexandra at the weekend, Levi Sutton comes into the fold to make his first start in claret and amber of the campaign.
Jake Young is also reinstated to the starting 11, alongside Vadaine Oliver up front.
