BANTAMS LOSE OUT AT HARROGATE

5 February 2022

The Bantams fell to defeat in North Yorkshire, losing 2-0 to Harrogate Town.

Two second-half goals from Jack Diamond ensured the Bantams - who enjoyed large spells of possession, creating numerous chances - left empty handed.

City had the first opportunity of the game when Tom Elliott attempted to chip Mark Oxley but te Harrogate stopper charged out to thwart the danger.

In the 35th minute Andy Cook played Jamie Walker in on goal who was able to get a shot away, but Oxley beat it away at the near post.

Moments later, Cook managed to turn and shoot, but Oxley once again was able to make the save.

The Bantams started the second period in a similar vein to the first, remaining on the front foot. On the hour mark, Cook arrowed a header goalward by Oxley somehow sprung across his net to keep it out.

A minute later, Diamond made City pay for their missed opportunities by putting the home side in front. His shot from inside the area took a wicked deflection to loop over Alex Bass.

Around 10 minutes after, Diamond scored again to put the home side two goals to the good.

The Sunderland loanee drove forward and shot from the edge of the area into the bottom corner, to double his and Harrogate's advantage.

Walker almost pulled one back for City in the 76th minute but his effort from the area flew just wide, and the Bantams left the EnviroVent Stadium empty handed.
