ADAMS EAGER FOR VP RETURN

13 January 2022

Derek Adams is excited to return to home soil after a month-long absence from the Utilita Energy Stadium, ahead of this weekend's visit of Salford City.

After consecutive weekends in Cumbria and a lengthy lay-off due to COVID, the Bantams boss is anticipating his side's return to West Yorkshire on Saturday.

Adams’ men will welcome Gary Bowyer's side, and the Scot expressed his excitement to get back on home soil, having not played there since the Bantams' spirited 2-2 draw with Sutton United.

He said: “We are looking forward to the match on Saturday. It is a home game and we have not been at home for a long time.

“The last game we played there was before Christmas, and then we had two weeks away from football because of the virus.

“We had two weeks away from football, and two games away from home so we will look to get back to winning games and moving on from something we cannot do anything about now.

“It was a disappointing result last weekend, but we have a good record at home this season, so it is the right place for a response.”

City’s early business during the January transfer window has seen the club welcome two new forward players. Both Dion Pereira and Jamie Walker have joined the club on a temporary basis, from Luton Town and Hearts respectively.

Adams highlighted the significance of the new signings - particularly Walker - who boasts a wealth of experience that his fellow Scotsman will look to tap into.

He added: “I have given him the No.10 jersey for a reason. He is certainly a player we will look to play through. He is a talented footballer who wants to score goals.

“There is a real competition for places now. We have five or six players who can play across the forward line and players will put pressure on each other.

“Jamie is a player who has played in semi-finals and finals. He has had that experience of playing in front of 50,000-60,000 people.

“The experience he has got is vital, and it is not something a lot of players at this level have, so it will really benefit us as a squad.”
