ADAMS HOPEFUL OF CONTINUING PROGRESS

24 January 2022

Derek Adams has called for his side to continue building momentum ahead of tomorrow's trip to Walsall.

City have notched two wins and a draw from their opening four matches of the new calendar year, and Adams believes improved performances will lead to progression up the league.

The Bantams travel to Walsall tomorrow - their 10th away trip in 14 matches - with the Scot hopeful of turning form into momentum.

He said: “We will go to Walsall and try to win the game.

“Every victory enables you to catch the teams above you. We have 21 games to go, and that is a lot of points to play for.

“You would always prefer to have the points, but we are now the ones hunting and putting pressure on everyone around us.

“We have not picked up as many points as we would have liked on the road, and that is something we are trying to change.”

Adams also highlighted how new additions combined with the injuries suffered at Rochdale over the weekend will spur a change of squad for the upcoming fixtures.

The City boss suggested the changes required will benefit his side, as the competition for places intensifies.

He added: “We have three players missing due to injury, but we have added to the squad this window.

“We now have to collect the wins we need to propel us up the table.

“You could see the options we had on the bench on Saturday were strong. We also have Dion Pereira to add to the 18.

“The first three signings we made can all score goals and we are looking to strengthen the forward line to get us closer to making the push.”
