ADAMS LOOKING FOR RUTHLESS CITY DISPLAY

31 January 2022

Derek Adams has called for a ruthless showing from his side, ahead of tomorrow night's visit of Leyton Orient.

The Bantams fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Crawley Town on Saturday, despite taking a one-goal lead and dominant performance into the half-time break.

The City chief insists his team must start finishing opponents earlier in the game, if they are to pick up the points they need.

He said: “We have to start killing teams off. I have looked at too many games this season where I have been hugely disappointed that we have drawn games.

“It is something we have to understand going into the game. We will have to deal with their threats but have to cause them problems.

“We have had to deal with goal-scorers this season. We had to do it against Matt and Stevens at Forest Green, and McKirdy and Simpson at Swindon.

“We have got a group of players that want to do well and want to be successful.”

Adams also spoke of the increased competition in City's squad as a result of the January transfer business completed.

Despite not ruling out further business before tonight's deadline, the Bantams boss is pleased with the recruits City have made.

He added: “We have taken in players this window and three of them have already started games. Tom Elliott joined just before Saturday’s game and Dion Pereira will be involved in time.

“We have got good options in the squad now. With the players coming in, on top of the players who have returned from injury, it has enabled us to be stronger.

“We have done our work and we will assess what happens in the window tonight, but we have strengthened the squad from what it was.”
