Mark Hughes is hoping to build on Saturday’s victory at table-toppers Forest Green Rovers when City visit Hartlepool United tomorrow evening.

The Bantams will be looking to record their second-straight away victory under Hughes on their trip to Victoria Park, with the Welshman hoping to use the weekend’s win as momentum for the fixture.

Hughes was impressed by City’s second-half performance in Gloucestershire and insisted it has boosted the morale within the squad.

He said: “As you would imagine, the morale is very high. The players are in good heart.

“The confidence that winning a game brings is always huge.

“We want to use that boost we have had leading into the game and hopefully come off the back of the Hartlepool game with even more confidence.

“They look a good side. They have good ability in key areas. We have to make sure the possession we get in deeper areas is effective.”

As City enter their third full week under Hughes’ tutelage, the Welshman is hoping to see further improvement on the field.

Tomorrow’s game will provide an opportunity to earn consecutive victories and Hughes is hopeful the squad’s progress in training will continue to translate onto the pitch.

He added: “We are giving the guys new things to work with, but it is nothing they are not capable of.

“There is no point playing in a way that is alien to them. It is about learning when to play and when not to.

“They are really coachable, and want to learn. You can tell when we talk to them, they want to know if it will work for them.

“The most important thing is transferring what we do in training into matchdays.”
