HUGHES WANTS TO END ON A HIGH

Mark Hughes has called for his players to end the 2021/22 campaign on a high, ahead of his side’s season finale at home to Carlisle United on Saturday.

The Bantams draw the curtain on their campaign looking to make it three-consecutive victories for the first time since August, after wins over Scunthorpe United and Sutton United.

Hughes wants to see one final push from his side, as preparations for 2022/23 intensify.

He said: “It is important in the last game of the season to finish on a high.

“It will be a huge crowd here, and the supporters want to be happy with the thought of next year. We want to perform well and give people a taste of what they can expect.

“We are on the back of a win and need to continue in the same vein. We need to play at that level - week in, week out.

“To be able to do that this season is a good marker for next season, in terms of the levels we need to hit, with the idea of actually surpassing them.

“The last home game of the season is always a game you want to perform in, so that is our intention.”

Hughes also noted the importance of the fixture in respect of memorial activities marking the 37th anniversary of the Valley Parade Fire Disaster.

After a visit from club chaplain, pastor Oliver Evans, the City chief insists he and his players are fully on board with their responsibility to represent the club and the city of Bradford.

He added: “Everybody involved in the club is aware of the significance of the dates around this time of year.

“The club chaplain, Oly, has come in to see us today and any of the guys who were not quite aware, now know the significance of it and the events of the terrible day.

“That resonated with everyone, and we know we represent the city and the football club. We cannot forget that.”

“I remember the day, not vividly but I remember the significance of it. It is almost the forgotten disaster, but you can never forget anything like that.”

Close to 17,000 supporters are already set to pack into the Utilita Energy Stadium for the clash. To secure your ticket, and SAVE on matchday admission, please CLICK HERE - BEFORE 11.59PM TOMORROW (Friday).
