O’CONNOR SCOOPS MAIN AWARDS AT END OF SEASON DINNER

12 May 2022

Paudie O’Connor and Yann Songo’o took three awards apiece as players, staff, supporters and sponsors came together at the Bradford City AFC 2022 End of Season Dinner.

It was the City skipper who again took the main award of the evening, the JCT600 2022 Player of the Year, for the second season running, after voting had taken place via the official Bradford City AFC App.

The Irish defender also picked up the Players’ Player of the Year award for the second-straight term, having earlier collected the East Bierley Bantams Player of the Year award.

Hosted by Utilita Energy Stadium pitch announcer Darren Harper in Valley Parade’s McCall and Hendrie Suites, the evening saw a total of 13 awards collected from representatives in different areas of the club.

There were interviews on stage with the likes of manager Mark Hughes, assistant Glyn Hodges, chief executive officer Ryan Sparks and academy manager Neil Matthews, while it was announced on stage that Jamie Walker had signed an initial two-year permanent contract with the Bantams.

O’Connor’s three-award haul was matched by Yann Songo’o who, following his first season in claret and amber, won Bingley Bantams Player of the Year, Shipley Bantams Most Consistent Away Performer of the Year and the Keybury 2021/22 Protect My Home award, for his heroic goal-line clearance away at Tranmere Rovers in November last year.

Theo Robinson was awarded Goal of the Season for his sublime first in City colours at Swindon Town last October, after Elliot Watt had received the Bradford City Supporters Trust Young Player of the Year Prize.

Bantams fan and member of the under-19s title-winning side Bobby Pointon took Academy Player of the Year, while the Bradford City Women and Girls awards respectively went to Charlotte Stuart and Mia Jacobs - with both of whom not present on the evening due to partaking in rearranged fixtures.

There were Bradford City Disability Football Club awards for female Katy Greenwood, male Toby Hunter and junior Jonathan Heseltine, while Valley Parade volunteer James Williams took the Bradford City Supporters Board Unsung Hero gong.
