Mark Hughes insists team spirit remains high as the Bantams prepare for a crucial clash with Northampton Town at the University of Bradford Stadium tomorrow.
City enter the encounter knowing victory over the Cobblers will move City into the automatic-promotion spots in Sky Bet League Two, above their visitors, with over 18,000 supporters expected at Valley Parade.
The Welshman has urged his Bantams to “keep performance levels high”, as he looks for the same game-management skills and impressive decision making which saw his side pick maximum points from their last two games on the road.
He said: “We are looking forward to it. We have trained really well this week.
“We have had a few difficulties with the weather, like most teams will have, but we have still got a lot of good work done. It is not a huge compromise, so we will be more than fine for the weekend.
“The morale is high, and the lads are in good heart. Everybody is in a good frame of mind and enjoying each other’s company. We just cannot wait for the weekend, on the back of some really good results.
“After the victories against Mansfield and Sutton, I spoke about the balance to the players and when is the right time to play, and how that sometimes it is not the best occasion to attack.
“We are getting that balance better. Most of it comes down to repetition and getting more familiar with managing games, but I am impressed with our decision making.
“All this does come together to make us more confident. It enables us to reach levels we know we are capable of.
“At the moment, everyone is coming together and playing close to their potential. It is all about keeping performance levels high.”
The City boss welcomes the threat Northampton pose and expects Saturday’s visitors, who also come into the match in form, to try and limit City's threat.
Hughes, however, is relishing the challenge and the importance of the weekend’s clash, and believes his players “have no apprehension”.
“They are a good team,” Hughes added.
“I have already said they will back their own ability against us. They sit ahead of us in the table, so they have that confidence. They may well have a a gameplan, in terms of trying to negate our threat.
“I expect it to be a game that will test both sides and, hopefully, we come out on top.
“The bigger the games, the better. As a player, you want to be involved in the big games.
“Certainly, away from home, we look very accomplished, so they have to be pro-active. We can capitalise on that.
“I do not expect my team to have any apprehension. We are a good team at this level, so we should back our own ability.”
