AWAY DAY GUIDE: GRIMSBY v CITY

22 October 2022

The Bantams will be looking to extend their unbeaten away run to five in Sky Bet League Two, when travelling to Blundell Park to face Grimsby Town this afternoon.

We have created an Away Day Guide with some helpful information ahead of the 3.00pm clash.

STADIUM ADDRESS

Blundell Park

Cleethorpes

North East Lincolnshire

DN35 7PY

ABOUT THE GROUND

Built in 1899, Blundell Park is home to the Mariners. The main stand is among the oldest stands still in use, with parts of the original wooden structure - dating back to its creation in 1901 - still visible.

Blundell Park is surrounded on all sides by housing and is just a stone’s throw away from the Humber Estuary.

The Osmond Stand hosts visiting supporters. Built in 1939, it has the capacity to accommodate up to 1,888 supporters.

The current capacity of Blundell Park is 9,031.

TICKETS

Suupporters are reminded that tickets for this afternoon are SOLD OUT.

1,237 supporters will make the trip to Cleethorpes, with no more tickets to be made available whatsoever.

Tickets will not be available to purchase on the day of the game, nor will admission be available on turnstiles.

Any tickets not collected from the University of Bradford Stadium can be picked up from Grimsby on the day of the game, on the away turnstile marked 'Harrington 2' - turnstiles 15 to 18.

CAR PARKING

Parking is extremely limited around Blundell Park. We advise supporters to arrive early and use the local street parking. Please be aware that some areas close to the ground have matchday parking restrictions.

ENTERTAINMENT AND REFRESHMENTS

Blundell Park has a range of food on offer inside the ground, including pies, pasties, burgers and hot dogs.

Hot drinks are also available from food stands, offering tea, coffee, Bovril and hot chocolate. Soft drinks and bottled water are also available.

There are fully-stocked bars throughout the ground. The Mariners Trust run bars are situated at the back of the Pontoon Stand, the Main Stand, in the Lower Youngs Stand and in the Osmond Stand – where away fans will be located.

Due to the large following from City fans, Grimsby Town will have both an indoor bar and outdoor bottle bar open.

Any relevant further information will be provided by Grimsby Town’s Supporter Liaison Officer via Twitter - @GTFC_SLO.

GETTING THERE

By car:

Follow the signs on the M180 and continue as it becomes the A180. This road will bring you to where you need to be as it runs adjacent to Blundell Park. Supporter coaches should leave Grimsby Road via Tiverton Street and will be parked on Harrington Street.

By train:

The nearest station to the ground is Cleethorpes. This is around a mile from Blundell Park. It will take around 25 minutes to walk from the station to the ground.

Upon arrival at Cleethorpes train station, you will find yourself on the promenade. From here, you will find two viable routes to the ground.

Option 1: This is the route that is the most accessible. Leave the station to the south-west and turn onto Princes's Road. Follow this until you reach Isaac’s Hill Roundabout, turning right onto Grimsby Road. Continue on Grimsby Road and turn right onto Manchester Street (after Papa Johns). At the end of the street, follow the road left and continue until you reach the first set of turnstiles on the left (Harrington 2).

Option 2: This route is very similar in distance and journey time, but will take you on a seaside walk. Leave the station onto the North Promenade. From here, walk north-west up the Promenade and away from the Pier. You will see Fuller Street bridge and the ground to your left. Cross over the bridge, this brings you onto Harrington Street. The first set of turnstiles on the left (Harrington 2) are where away fans are located. This route is not wheelchair accessible.

By bus:

Stagecoach operates services that run along Grimsby Road, with stops found near the ground. Supporters should look out for the number 9, 13 and 46 routes on matchdays.

WEATHER

City fans can expect sunny conditions with highs of 16°C. The chance of rain is less than 5%.
