HUGHES LOOKING FORWARD TO VALLEY PARADE ATMOSPHERE

6 October 2022

Mark Hughes is looking forward to another special atmosphere at the University of Bradford Stadium, when his Bantams take on Stockport County this weekend.

City welcome County to West Yorkshire with over 18,000 supporters already expected inside Valley Parade.

Hughes is expecting another raucous showing from the home faithful, and has called for his men to rise to the occasion.

He said: “We are looking forward to it. We have spent a bit of time reflecting on Tuesday, but all our focus is now on the weekend, and concentrating on what we hope will be a great game, with a big crowd expected.

“The atmosphere will be at the level we want it to be, with the run we are currently on and the desire we are showing to keep picking up points.

“Hopefully, that can spur us on even more and help us keep our run going.”

Despite being wary of the threat the newly-promoted visitors will provide, the Welshman wants his players to impose themselves on the encounter, and focus on their game in order to get the three points.

The Bantams boss added: “A lot of people probably thought Stockport would have had a better start to the season, but they do keep on progressing.

“We are under no illusions, as they are strong at this level and capable of putting a run together at any point during the season.

“They are a good team with strong individuals who will make it difficult for us with way they play, and we will have to be at our best.

“As always, our focus is on ourselves. We always try to impose our way of playing on our opponents, rather than focusing on opposition, and that is our concentration again ahead of Saturday.”
