PLATT ENCOURAGES CITY TO PLAY TO STRENGTHS

Matty Platt has called for he and his City team-mates to play to their strengths, as they aim to return to winning ways against Crawley Town this weekend.

Platt has been an ever-present in City’s backline so far this season, playing 90 minutes as the Bantams drew with Swindon Town on Tuesday.

He is expecting another tough game against the Reds tomorrow, but believes City’s style provides them with the opportunity to compete with every team in the division.

The centre-back said: “It will be a tough game. Crawley did not have the greatest of starts to the season, but recently they have picked up a few good results.

“Our focus is always on what we can do and, if we play to the best of our ability, there are not many teams who can live with us.

“We just need to concentrate on ourselves and try to get that right, and hopefully it will result in a win.”

City’s No.5 shared his frustration with Tuesday's draw, though insists the camp remains a positive one heading into another clash at the University of Bradford Stadium.

Platt added: “We had mixed feelings. The first half was probably the best we have played all year.

“From our side, it was disappointing we were not more than one goal up. The way we played in the first half was what we have been talking about. We really gave ourselves that depth and they could not get close to us.

“We just stopped doing the things we were good at in the first. The lesson is to bring the good things from the first half into the second, and that is one thing we will try and work on in the coming weeks.

“We have got to move on as quick as we can, because we cannot change it. The only thing we can do is look at our performance, look at what went right and where we can improve, and take that into Saturday.

“Having another game at home is massive for us, and hopefully we can play the football we played in the first half, really enjoy the game and hopefully get a win.”
