Matt Derbyshire is aiming to help the Bantams continue their unbeaten run on the road in 2023, when City visit the Broadfield Stadium to face Crawley Town on Good Friday.

The January recruit is looking forward for more game time, as a recent injury sidelined him for six weeks, and aims to make an impact now he is getting back to full fitness, after doing so against Grimsby Town last week.

“We have got great away form,” Derbyshire said.

“We have to keep pushing when we go away. We have to keep our good away record going.

“Hopefully, we can get back-to-back wins to push us further up the table this weekend.

“I am chomping at the bit. I try to give everything and make an impact whenever I play. I am back now, and it is time for me to push on again.”

The former Blackburn forward spoke highly of Bantams boss Mark Hughes and how he is enjoying working under his stewardship again, after their time together in Lancashire.

Derbyshire praised the belief that is currently within the squad, hoping City’s character can push them on for the remainder of the season, starting in West Sussex tomorrow.

“As soon as (Hughes) got the job, I was on the phone trying to make a move happen,” Derbyshire recalled.

“I wanted to come straight away, but it did not happen. When it did, I was buzzing.

“It is nice to be back working with them (Mark Hughes and Glyn Hodges).

“It is good when you recognise a familiar face. I am absolutely loving it here.

“There is a massive belief. Every point matters and we have to give it our all.

“Whether we are playing top or bottom, we have to take it serious and be focused. We have to go down there and do what we need to do to take the three points.

“We have great character in the dressing room to push on. We have to give everything we have got for the last eight games.”
