McDONALD FOCUSED ON ‘MOVING FORWARD’

Kevin McDonald is confident the Bantams can move on from their defeat to Morecambe last weekend, as they prepare to host Crewe Alexandra tomorrow.

The Scot acknowledged that City let themselves down against the Shrimps on Saturday, but has called for the side to not dwell on it, as they solely aim to “move forward”.

“What happened last week is unfortunately part of football, and we have to make sure it does not happen again,” he said.

“On any other day, we win that game, but unfortunately we let ourselves and the club down.

“However, we know where we went wrong, what not to do again, and to prove it was just a one-off game.

“We were below par against Morecambe, it is as simple as that.

“The positive is that we have a game on Saturday, so we can get back on track.”

The experienced midfielder outlined how the Bantams can utilise their gameplan effectively,  insisting that perfection in possession and pressing will yield positive results.

The former Wolves and Fulham man lastly explained the importance of performing in front of the University of Bradford Stadium crowd, and how “they deserve to watch creative football”.

“If we take more control in our possession, we will play our best football,” McDonald added.

“We need to get in more creative positions when we use our possession effectively.

“We need to be in the right place to win the back. We are not always in the best positions, and when other teams transition well, we are running 70 yards instead of, say, 20.

“The best teams are always the ones that control the possession and their press.

“You could sense from the first game, against Colchester, that the fans want the best out of this club.

“They expect, and deserve, to see good attacking football, and it is up to us to give them that.

“And to be honest, I would rather be playing at home to 18,000 behind you, but it is up to us to perform and get them behind us.

“If we can score a few goals, and get those fantastic fans behind us, Valley Parade becomes an incredibly hard place for opponents.”
