Graham Alexander was proud of the way his team matched their opponents despite the tough conditions, as they drew 0-0 against league leaders Stockport County at the University of Bradford Stadium.

The City chief lauded the way his team was able to battle with Stockport, as it shows their development and progress.

“It was a battle out there,” he said.

“With the pitch, we knew the level of football both teams would be able to play.

“Both teams tried to win the game, certainly from our side, but unfortunately, we could not find that breakthrough.

“We knew it was going to be a tight game with fine margins.

“We looked like a team who wanted to take on the side at the top and beat them, but unfortunately just fell short.

“I think we matched them and showed we are here to compete against everybody.”

City are now unbeaten in eight games after the draw, and Alexander is proud of the mentality his side has shown in recent weeks.

“Since that half-time at Notts County, the team have shown incredible mentality,” he added.

“They nearly came back in that game, and even recently 2-0 down at home on Boxing Day we were able to come back.

“I think the players are feeling good about what we are doing, and good about themselves.

“We are still far away from where we want to be, but we are showing good progression.

“There is still a lot to be done and that continues on New Year's Day.”
