Graham Alexander was pleased with his side's performance as they ran out 4-0 victors over Liverpool Under-21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
After a dominant showing against the young Reds, the City boss lauded the way his side operated and controlled the game and, despite a momentary lull in concentration, felt it was a "very deserved" win for his side.
“It was a dominant performance,” he said.
“I think we deservedly took the lead and had the momentum.
“After the red card, we relaxed a little too much and maybe wanted to coast through the rest of the game.
“They had a couple of opportunities on the counter.
“At half-time we had to remind the boys that we needed to keep doing the things we were at the start of the game.
“The performance in the second half was really dominant.
“We scored three goals, should have scored more and kept a clean sheet.”
Alexander aims to encourage his side to be more clinical going forward and, despite insisting you cannot score every chance you create, hopes his side can convert more.
“You are not going to score every chance you have,” he added.
“We want to be a high-scoring team.
“We encourage the players to get forward at every opportunity.
“There are goalscorers within the squad.
“It is good for them and their confidence and the work they are doing is paying off.”
