Adam Clayton was encouraged by the Bantams’ 2-0 victory against Tranmere Rovers at the University of Bradford Stadium last night, and believed the win was a step in the right direction.

The midfielder insisted the switch in mentality, from coming behind to win away at Stevenage on Saturday, to controlling Tranmere at home, can benefit City and their seasonal goals.

“It was a comfortable win against a tough team - I really enjoyed it,” he said.

“After winning at Stevenage over the weekend, and following up with a win here, now is a perfect time to put something together going into the final 18 games.

“It is a real good lesson to us that we know we can do both sides of the game.

“The back end of the season is like a different sport. You have got to take it game by game. The last two results show we have a chance.

“We went to second in the league and won, and did very well against Tranmere. It is a relentless league, and hopefully we can continue picking up more wins.”

City’s No.40 was also pleased with the defensive unit, as they saw out a second-half threat from Rovers before clinching the game, and also credited his side's confident end.

The former Middlesbrough captain concluded that the positive atmosphere in the dressing room will be vital - ahead of Saturday’s visit of play-off chasing Barrow.

He added: “The defensive line was superb, heading and clearing everything.

“Remaining composed defensively is so important, and we did that today.

“If we can keep that up, and stop teams from scoring, we have a real chance at succeeding at this level.

“We know we are a good team. We all played very well, and that showed through how we finished the game.

“You are going to have to go to places in this league that make the game difficult.

“The dressing room is as good as it can be going into another game. We are five unbeaten and have won our last two.

“We know what Barrow can do. They have been at the top end of the league all season, we will do all our meetings, find their weaknesses and try to exploit them.”
