City fell to consecutive defeats in Sky Bet League Two, losing 2-1 at Tranmere Rovers.

Rovers took the lead in the first half through Regan Hendry, and despite Andy Cook pulling City level and Harry Lewis keeping them alive with a penalty save, a late Kieron Morris winner saw all three points stay in Birkenhead.

The first chance fell the way of the Bantams, who started much the brighter side. A curling effort from Jamie Walker rattled the post and Tranmere were able to clear it.

City again went close through Alex Pattison and Walker once more, but after a period of visiting dominance, it was Rovers who took the lead.

In the 24th minute, a long-range effort from Hendry slipped through the hands of Harry Lewis and ended up in the City net, putting the hosts ahead.

Mark Hughes' side looked for a response, with Cook planting a header at Luke McGee shortly after Liam Ridehalgh had drilled over.

After the half-time break, City came out again with a renewed spirit, grabbing their equaliser 10 minutes after the restart.

Adam Wilson, on full debut for the Bantams, played a corner short to Brad Halliday. The City full-back whipped a ball into the box where Cook steered an unstoppable header into the far corner.

Just minutes after the equaliser, City had more work to do as Kevin McDonald was adjudged to have fouled Harvey Saunders in the area, and Tranmere were awarded a penalty.

Lewis stood firm and dived to his right to deny Josh Hawkes' effort and keep the visitors level.

However, in the 83th minute, Tranmere would find their winning goal, as substitute Kieron Morris snuck an effort in at the near post.

Hughes' men left Merseyside empty-handed, as Nigel Adkins' team saw out the remainder of the encounter.
