CITY TAKE LATE POINT

21 October 2023

Adam Wilson's first goal in claret and amber sealed a late point for the Bantams, who played out a 1-1 draw with Wrexham.

Paul Mullin had given the Welsh outift the lead shortly after the hour mark, though Wilson's neat finish with five minutes to go ensured the spoils would be shared in front of over 21,500 supporters at the University of Bradford Stadium.

It was a heated start to this one, as Wrexham captain Mullin was shown a yellow card inside the first five minutes for a lunge on Brad Halliday.

This trend continued throughout the opening period, with five yellows handed out before the break.

City had a couple of good chances, Andy Cook heading just wide and the in-form Emmanuel Osadebe seeing a low effort flash past the post.

Osadebe would see another effort bounce wide in the 39th minute. A brilliant in-swinging cross by City skipper Richie Smallwood met the foot of Osadebe but he could not turn into the back of the net.

Just as the clock hit 45, Steven Fletcher latched onto an awkwardly bouncing ball but his shot was well wide, as the two sides entered the break level.

It was the visitors who broke the deadlock through Paul Mullin. He latched onto a good ball into the box and crashed a header past Harry Lewis in the City net, who had got a hand to it, to make it 1-0.

City pushed hard for an equaliser, with Cook seeing a couple of headed chances fly just wide.

But it was Adam Wilson who found the breakthrough for the Bantams, with five minutes to go.

Substitute Rayhaan Tulloch forced his way through a couple Wrexham defenders into the box and the ball found its way to the feet of Wilson, who - at the second bite of the cherry - smashed home off the underside of the bar.

With eight minutes of added time, both teams had chances to win the game as City looked to push harder for a second goal, but it ended all square.
