POINTON: 'ALL OUR FOCUS ON SATURDAY'

27 October 2023

Bobby Pointon is determined to right City's wrongs of Tuesday night this weekend, as the Bantams travel to the VBS Community Stadium to take on Sutton United.

The City academy graduate admitted the side fell short of their lofty ambitions in a defeat to MK Dons, and is looking to come away with a different result in South London tomorrow.

The Bantams' No.23 takes everything as a learning curve, including Tuesdays night’s game. It was the first time he had started a game where City were defeated, something he does not want to make a habit of.

Pointon said: “Tuesday was difficult. We were below the standards we set for ourselves.

“We did not deal with the first goal. We have to do better, and all our focus is on Saturday.

“I take everything as a learning curve. It was my first defeat from starting a game.

“It was something new for me, so I had to deal with that and I will learn from it.

“We have to put it past us now, and focus on Saturday.

The 19-year-old spoke highly of the players in the squad and how they have helped him settle into the dressing room during a breakthrough season, praising the likes of Jamie Walker and the returning Harry Chapman.

Winger Pointon occupied a different role in Tuesday's game, in the No.10 position, and again took valuable experience from it.

“I am really enjoying it, everything is going well and I fit in with the lads,” he added.

“Everything on and off the pitch, I take everything in and learn off the senior players.

“Jamie is a really good player. I look at him in and out of possession, we have a good relationship on the pitch and I really like playing with him.

“Chappy as well. I look at him in training and I learn a lot from him.

“I played in the middle when I was younger. I do enjoy it.

“On the right, I do feel more comfortable, but I have not played in the middle for a while. It was a change for me, but I am always just happy to play.”
