HUGHES HOPES GOOD PERFORMANCES CONTINUE

Mark Hughes has called for his Bantams to follow up positive performances from the past week when welcoming Walsall to the University of Bradford Stadium on Saturday.

The City boss is hoping his side can take elements from both last Saturday's emphatic win over Newport County and Tuesday's Carabao Cup defeat to Sky Bet Championship Middlesbrough into the weekend.

He has outlined an opportunity for his team to build a longer-term vein of form, seeing these performances more regularly both individually and as a team.

“We are going into the game against Walsall off the back off two good performances,” he said.

“Obviously, the performance against Newport was very good, but I thought we put up a good fight on Tuesday night as well.

“There is a feeling within the group that we can have a period where we can get some consistency and put a good run of results together.

“We have seen some good individual and team performances in recent games, which we all hope can continue on Saturday.”

Despite defeat to Middlesbrough on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, Hughes believes his players will have learned plenty from pitting themselves against higher-tier opposition.

“Playing against higher opposition can have benefits,” he added.

“We can look at what they do, and take things from them.

“The experience of playing against higher opposition can give us things we can take forward into the rest of the season.

“Some of their decision making, the ability to offload the ball at the right time was impressive.

“It will give the players an insight and understanding into what it takes.”
