ALEXANDER: ‘THAT WAS A GOOD WIN FOR US’

Graham Alexander was proud of his side's battling as they triumphed over bottom side Sutton United at the University of Bradford Stadium.

A singular second-half goal from Calum Kavanagh was the difference between the two sides, with a result which Alexander insists is a very important one.

“We sound boring as managers when we say there are no easy games, but it is true,” he said.

“Everyone is fit, organised and all have reasons to be motivated.

“The expectation was certainly on us after our last few results and being at Valley Parade.

“We saw out there how motivated they were to come here and slow the game.

“We made them work hard for any opportunity that they did have, and we created our own and obviously took one.

“That was a great win for us.”

Today’s clean sheet means City have not conceded in five-straight games in all competitions, a record Alexander insists remains very important for his side.

“Clean sheets give you something to start on - you have at least a point,” he added.

“It gives you a base to build from, it means we are not chasing the game.

“In the past, we have been victims of creating our own issues in games.

“Hopefully, we have learned from that and put into action some things which will help us be more composed.”
