ALEXANDER FOCUSED ON CITY'S OUTPUT

12 January 2024

Graham Alexander will be focusing on his players and City's own output, ahead of their Sky Bet League Two trip to Colchester United.

The Bantams travel to the JobServe Community Stadium to face The U's at 3.00pm tomorrow. The hosts will contest their second game under new management.

The City boss wants to make sure his team focuses on what they need to do, rather than get caught up in trying to predict their hosts' approach.

“When you are facing a team with a new manager in charge, we go back and see what he has done in previous roles,” he said.

“Obviously, we have also analysed his first game in charge.

“We did not know what Derby’s team was going to be the other night, so we prepared our team to get the best out of us, rather than focusing on what the opposition was going to bring.

“You cannot focus on the opposition too much. Twenty minutes in, they could have an injury and change their shape.

“First and foremost, you have to focus on your own players.”

Alexander is relishing the selection choices that Tuesday night's performance has brought him.

After making seven changes and seeing a winning performance at Park Park, Alexander welcomes having difficult decisions to make when it comes to picking his team.

“The players who played on Tuesday night certainly played more of the game than we expected them to,” he added.

“They seem in good spirits and have all come through the game. Tuesday has really reinvigorated the group.

“The team who have been playing in recent weeks have done very well, but maybe had started to teeter off in recent games.

“We need to be able to change the team from time to time. I could not just change the team on a hope, I had to see it and I did see what they have got on Tuesday.

“It has added an extra spark to the squad, and given me a few decisions to make.”
